UNKNOWN INTERVIEW - November 2002
- How has life changed for you since you started the "Harry Potter" movies?
My family and friends' life hasn't really changed that much. Obviously I'm recognised in the street and I'm away from home a lot more. And I have an action figure of myself! Apart from that, I'm just trying to keep my life as normal as possible.
- What was it like working with Kenneth Branagh?
When I first met him I thought he'd be really intimidating, but he's such an amazing person. He's really, really down to earth and is a really nice guy. I think he portrayed the character of Gilderoy Lockhart perfectly - really cheesy and really funny.
- If you had a house elf, what things would you like him to do?
I wasn't in any scenes with Dobby, but I thought he was really sweet and I'd like to take him home and sit him on the bed with the rest of my cuddly toys.
- Has working on the films affected your schoolwork?
When we were on set, we had a tutor to keep up with our school work - three hours minimum, five hours maximum, so we kept up and everything. I really enjoy school, so it was really nice to go back and be normal again. I've got quite big exams this year, so it's important that I go back to school in the gaps between filming.
- Did you have nightmares after watching the film?
No, not at all. I think that's what makes it really good. Even though there a darker bits and the plot's a bit more complicated, there are still some light scenes - I was laughing all the way through.
- What's the best and worst things about being so famous?
I think when you take away all the premieres and the press and all the frilly stuff off, you come down to the fact that it's just acting, and I think that's been the best thing for me.
- Would you say you and your character are alike?
I think Hermione is very bossy, so in the film I get to boss Daniel and Rupert around, but I hope that doesn't happen too much in real life. She's very determined and very loyal. I'm not as academic as she is - I spend a lot more time doing sport and art. I'm not quite as obsesssed on the book front.

UNKNOWN MAGAZINE - After the first Harry Potter Movie
-How would you describe Hermione?
She's bossy and has real charisma, She's obsessed with learning and wants to be the tops in everything; that's what gives her character. And she's quite protective of Harry.
-How are you like Hermione? She likes cats, and I adore cats. She's determined and really loyal to her friends, and I think I am. I'm not exactly like her - I do study hard, but I don't come out on top in everything!
- Why do you think it's better to have a cat than an owl?
What can an owldo, other bring you the mail and poo everywhere? Cats can be a lot more affectionate than owls and are a lot more interesting to play with. I have two cats of my own called Bubbles and Domino.
-What do you think it's the hardest subject at Hogwarts?
Potions. You know how in science class if you mix the wrong additive, somthing explodes? Imagine what it would be like if the class were 10 times more advanced... Because it's magic! You could end up doing anithing!
-What was your favourite part of Hogwarts?
I love Professor MacGonagall's classroom. We shot it at a monastery. She had a parrot sitting on her shoulder and a cat walking all over the place. And the symbols she drew on the chalkboard were amazing. the room had kind of a misty atmosphere. It looked like the sort of room where anything could happen in a minute!

TeenHollywood interview - Dec 2002 ( I have deleted the answers of Daniel and Rupert)
- When you are acting do you play younger or just play your age?
Emma: Play your age I think. Were growing up with the books. Were the same age as them so were growing up with them.
- Did working on the first film make it easier this time around?
Emma: I think everyone was a lot more competent and more comfortable because we all knew the crew. We knew the director. We knew what we were doing for starters. I think everyone came back feeling a lot more confident.
-  Could you describe some of your special effects sequences?
Emma: Being petrified was actually an amazing wax model of me which I had to have a whole cast made of me. I didnt have to actually lie there (indicates a frozen position) for half an hour.
- There is a great line in this movie from Kenneth Branagh, Celebrity is as celebrity does. All you guys are celebs. Can you talk about your experience in the last year becoming a celebrity?
Emma: Probably the best thing is going to the really, really cool premieres and getting to pick all of the cool outfits.
- Can you predict one thing in the books for each of your characters that you think will happen?
Emma: She will do something really clever like be a doctor or something. Shell be really academic.
- What kind of fan mail do you all get?
Emma: When it was my birthday, somebody gave me a massive, big, white, cuddly bear as big as me and they sent it in the post to me and I just think that was completely amazing as theyd never even met me or anything.
- Chris Columbus isnt directing the next Potter film, hes producing. How do you feel about that?
Emma: Chris will still be there, its not like hes gone forever. Alphonso (Cuaron) is a really, really nice guy and I think its really exciting working with somebody new as well.
- Whats the best thing and worst thing about doing these films?
Emma: Again, its the acting which I really enjoyed and even if you take away all the glamour and attention and premieres and everything, it still comes down to the fact that you are acting. Just being with so many fantastic actors, directors, all the people I worked with.
- Would you like to go on with the series, doing four or five movies to maybe the 7th book.
Emma: I dont know if theyre going to make a fourth of a fifth but theyve been a really good experience and Ive really enjoyed them so yeah, I suppose.
- Emma, can you comment on having to hug Daniel in the film?
Emma: Okay. For starters it was cringe having to hug somebody in front of 300 kids and everybody else in the whole entire world but it was okay. He was really nice about it. You would think hed be like ewww, get off me but he wasnt. It was very nice.
- How are your families doing with all this limelight?
Emma: My parents have helped me being very supportive.
- You jumped right back into this film after doing the last one. This time you have a little more time in between. What are you up to right now? Any projects in between?
Emma: I went back to school, which was good and went pretty much straight back as well.
- What has been the most satisfying aspect of giving so much of yourself to these films?
Emma: You both nicked my answer again. You spend ten months doing it and you havent seen special effects or any of the editing. You havent seen anything and, because you worked on it and were in the scenes its this massive surprise when you see it.
- What do each of you identify with most about the characters you are playing and has that spilled over into your real life?
Emma: I dont go around saying holy cricket too much but sometimes I find myself saying some of the lines from the film.
-: Do you have a favorite subject in school and any thoughts of what you want to be when you grow up?
Emma: Im not very academic so Id probably say sports or art. But if I have to go academic it would probably be English and History. What am I going to be when I grow up? Absolutely no idea. Just going to go with the flow.
- Do each of you have something on your Christmas wish list?
Emma: More clothes.
- Is there a downside to being the Harry Potter kids?
Emma: I think I could be a hundred years old and in my rocker and still be proud to say I was in the Harry Potter films.
